The code of conduct

BunkFest is committed to creating an open, inclusive and safe environment where all attendees, event organisers and contributors feel welcome and able to participate.

Everyone involved in BunkFest activities and events (directors, artists, volunteers, contractors and attendees) are subject to the Code of Conduct.

Being part of the BunkFest event or activity means:

  • Creating and maintaining an inclusive environment that is both positive and supportive;
  • Tolerating and listening to each other’s views;
  • Using welcoming and inclusive language;
  • Treating everyone with dignity and respect;
  • Being considerate to event attendees, event staff, organisers and volunteers;
  • Consider people equal without prejudice or favour

BunkFest will NOT accept:

  • Abusive, insulting or degrading, threatening, bullying, intimidatory, hateful, violent or otherwise inappropriate behaviour (including speech and/or text and/or imagery);
  • Harassment;
  • Discrimination of any kind i.e. offensive comments related to gender, gender identity, and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity and religion;
  • Display of inappropriate content:
    • Sexual language and imagery
    • Sustained disruption of talks or events
    • Unauthorised recording or photographing

It is the responsibility of parents and carers to ensure the safety of the children in their care. This includes making sure that the events and activities accessed by children in their care are age-appropriate and the children behave in a respectful way to any artist or performer.

Failing to comply with the Code of Conduct could result in the immediate exclusion from any BunkFest events or activities (without refund if appropriate)

If you think that the Code of Conduct is not being followed during the build, take down or at any time during the festival or at any festival event you should report your complaint as soon as possible to the Control Office on the festival site where it will be immediately referred to a member of the BunkFest Safeguarding Team. If you wish to file a formal written complaint please send this to complaint@bunkfest.co.uk upon receipt of which the matter will be dealt with by investigative panel which will consider the complaint and respond to you within 48 hours. The privacy and confidentiality of all parties will be maintained at all times during the investigation and the person making the complaint will be kept informed during the process and notified when the investigation is completed.
