Skyport Ade

Skyport Ade started playing guitar in a skiffle group during the boom at the end of the 1950s. From there he graduated into playing gigs in Osterley and Feltham jazz clubs and folk clubs round Twickenham, notably the Anglers at Teddington Lock. In the 60's he got the jug band bug and formed one called Skyport Ade's Herbal Remedy. His first recording was with Peter Kennedy in 1972, the resulting album being released on cassette. In 1978 he moved to Berkshire and became involved with various local folk clubs including Sherborne St John and The Lamb at Eversleigh Cross. In the early 1990s he formed an electric blues band called Bluesade. Nowadays he goes out as a one man blues band, sometimes accompanied by friends. Recent appearances include Caversham Charity Folk Festival, the May Day bash in Victoria Park, Newbury and a support for Michael Messer at the 21 South Street Thirdsday Blues Night in Reading. He has made several CDs.
